On my return home on Friday I drove across Fir Island in the Skagit River delta. The island is a result of the Skagit River splitting into two forks on the delta as it nears the Salish Sea. Fir Island has become a winter home for snow geese. I had a nice view of the flocks coving the fields with Mount Baker in the background.
